WHY are MOVIES

important

for david’s

motif?

David’s style has developed throughout the years; however, the dramatic and cinematic element is prevalent in his motif and photography in 2024.

David has consciously always had this movie-like tonality to my visual style, a faded greenish film tone that is prominent in cinematic films such as Matrix (1999), Fallen Angels (1995), and Midnight Meat Train (2014).

It was freestyling and experimental, but nowadays, it has shifted to specifically cinematic, as movies and TV dramas influence my photography. I will showcase this on my website!! David’s style has evolved over the years, but the dramatic and cinematic elements remain dominant in his motif and photography in 2024. He has always consciously embraced a movie-like quality in his visual style, characterised by a faded greenish film tone reminiscent of cinematic films such as "The Matrix" (1999), "Fallen Angels" (1995), and "Midnight Meat Train" (2014).

While his earlier work was more freestyle and experimental, it has now transitioned to a distinctly cinematic approach, heavily influenced by movies and TV dramas. David plans to showcase this evolution on his website!!

BEFORE & aFTER

This document highlights some of David's most notable Photoshop edits, which enhance the imagery produced using my Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic presets.

Among David’s preferred guiding principles regarding his artistic approach is a quote attributed to Pablo Picasso that emphasises the importance of "learning the rules" before "breaking them." David identifies as an expressionist photographer, which reflects his tendency to deviate from conventional photography norms. Nonetheless, he possesses a foundational understanding of the fundamental principles, ensuring that these basics are integrated into his artistic practice.

LEARN THE RULES LIKE A PRO, SO YOU CAN THEN BREAK THEM LIKE AN ARTIST
